Episode 1: 7AM-8AM

When Michelle and Tony — now remarrried and running a security consulting company — learn of David Palmer’s assassination, Michelle believes they should go to CTU and offer to help but Tony is reluctant to get involved in the agency again. They argue, and Michelle decides to go to CTU without Tony. Tony reconsiders and cancels his business meeting so he can go with her, but before he can tell her, a huge explosion rocks the house. Tony rushes outside to find his car on fire and his wife laying lifeless on the ground. As he hugs Michelle’s body to him, the car’s gas tank explodes and sends them both flying. Though badly injured, Tony survives the carbomb and is rushed to CTU medical center, but Michelle is not so lucky. She has been murdered.

Golden Almeida Quote
“Rick, it’s Tony Almeida. Look, I just wanted to call you and let you know that Michelle’s not gonna be able to make our meeting today. She had to go someplace. On second thought, I’m going with her.” [KA-BOOM]

Jack arrives back at CTU after the hostage crisis at Ontario airport has been resolved. He is in Lynn McGill’s office when he receives a call from the clinic to inform him that Tony has regained consciousness and is asking for him. When Jack arrives at the clinic, he approaches Tony but finds Tony still completely unconscious. The “doctor” attacks Jack — turns out he is an assassin sent by Walt Cummings to kill Jack! The two men fight and Jack stabs the assassin as Tony’s unconscious body bears witness.

Alas, Tony does not appear in these episodes!

Episode 11: 5PM-6PM

Tony finally regains consciousness and Bill Buchanan makes his way down to the clinic. The doctor informs Bill that although Tony remembers the explosion, he doesn’t know yet that Michelle died. The Doctor asks Bill not to tell him the truth, as the news could upset him and impede his recovery. Bill fills Tony in on as much as he can, but claims that Michelle was taken to a hospital for treatment. Tony is suspicious of both Bill’s uncomfortable demeanour and the doctor’s evasiveness whenever he asks about Michelle, so he sneaks out of bed and pulls up Michelle’s file on the clinic’s workstation. He breaks down in despair when he discovers that Michelle is dead.

Golden Almeida Moment
Tony can’t shake the unsettling feeling he got from Bill’s strange demeanour earlier. Again, he questions the doctor about Michelle’s condition. The doctor evades the question, replying only that “he hasn’t heard anything new.” By this point, Tony is frantic to learn the truth. The moment he is left alone, he rips out his IV and his breathing tube. He rips off the bandage covering his face to reveal a little bit of superficial wound damage to his neck and ear, but nothing serious. He is most certainly still hot. He stares at himself in the mirror intensely. Finally, the nurse clears the hallway and Tony sneaks up to the clinic’s workstation. He stealthily types Michelle’s name into the system and runs a search. As the search is running, Buchanan and his doctor discover him. They try to pull him away from the computer, but Tony shoves them away from him and angrily screams at them to leave him alone. Just then, the computer finds Michelle’s file and when it comes up, the big red looming “DECEASED” sign appears with it. Tony’s shocked disbelief turns to horror as the computer displays photographs of his beautiful wife’s burnt, twisted body. Tony collapses to his knees in grief, sobbing Michelle’s name, until his doctor and an orderly pick him up and drag him back to his bed.

Episode 12: 6PM-7PM

Tony is anxious to learn where CTU’s investigation has led them and to make the people responsible for Michelle’s death pay for what they’ve done. He questions Buchanan, who is reluctant to share classified information with him. Tony presses and Bill relents, informing him of Christopher Henderson’s involvement. Meanwhile, Bierko’s people have infiltrated CTU using Lynn McGill’s stolen keycard, and release a cansiter of Sentox into the ventilation system. CTU is able to seal off several isolated areas of the building, including the clinic. Henderson, who is being stabilized after a “medical interrogation”, ends up locked into clinic isolation with Tony.

Golden Almeida Dialogue
Buchanan: You called for me, Tony?
Tony: Yeah.
Buchanan: What’s goin’ on?
Tony: That’s what I wanted to ask you.
Buchanan: What do you mean?
Tony: What do you think I mean, Bill? My wife was killed this morning right in front of my eyes, and nobody here has told me who did it or why.
Buchanan: The investigation is ongoing, Tony.
Tony: Come on, Bill. I used to work here. I know that’s what you say to people when you don’t wanna tell ‘em the truth.
Buchanan: The truth is you’re not an agent anymore. What you’re asking me is classified. Tony, it doesn’t matter what I tell you, there’s nothing you can do.
Tony: I know there’s nothing I can do, look at me for God’s sake! I just wanna know who did it. I think for the sake of all the years I’ve given this place and all the sacrifices I’ve made, I think I deserve to know, don’t you?
Buchanan: All I can tell you is Michelle’s murder was part of bigger plan to supply terrorists with Sentox nerve gas.
Tony: Who’s behind it? Who’s responsible, Bill?
Buchanan: The highest we’ve been able to get up the chain of command is someone you might know from when he worked here. Christopher Henderson.
Tony: What? Why??
Buchanan: We’re working on it, Tony.
Tony: Don’t let him get away with this, Bill. Don’t you let him cut a deal.
Buchanan: I won’t.

Episode 13: 7PM-8PM

Tony gets his opportunity for revenge on Henderson when they are locked down in the CTU clinic together, but Jack convinces Tony not to kill Henderson until CTU can extract the information they need from him. Tony reluctantly agrees. While Jack works to clear CTU of the Sentox and CTU’s torture expert tries to stabilize Henderson for another round of torture, the waiting becomes too much for Tony. He can longer stand to sit idly by while the man who ordered his wife’s murder is still breathing. Despite Jack’s pleas, Tony decides to kill an unconscious, defenseless Henderson in revenge. But at the moment of truth, Tony, true to altruistic form, finds himself unable to take the life of a defenseless man, even one as evil and cold-blooded as Christopher Henderson. This proves to be a fatal mistake. It turns out that Henderson was faking his comatose state, and he injects a fatal dose of stimulants right into Tony’s heart, killing Tony and making him yet another untimely and gratitous casualty of the Season 5 writers’ shock-and-awe bloodlust. As Freidrich Neitzsche and Trent Reznor so eloquently put it: GOD IS DEAD. 24 fandom will never be the same. Or so we believed…

Golden Almeida Dialogue
Tony: Henderson’s in a coma, he’s not comin’ out of it. You’ve had your chance. He’s mine now.
Jack: Dammit, Tony, just wait until I get there!
Tony: No. I’m done waiting.
Jack: You don’t wanna do this, it’s not gonna bring back Michelle.
Tony: No. But I’ll feel better.
Jack: Trust me, you won’t.
Tony: You’re probably right. I’ll let you know. [hangs up the phone]

Golden Almeida Quote
“She’s gone, Jack.”

Episode 14: 8PM-9PM

A white sheet is dropped coldly and callously over Tony’s face as CTU, the writers and apparently Jack quickly and easily move on as though nothing happened. The fans, however, will remember.

Episodes 15-24: 9PM-7AM

Tony was ostensibly dead for these episodes.
