The Top 24 Nail-Biting Scenes of 24

(This list was compiled entirely without the participation of any AIG webmasters or mistresses. Please do not direct your complaints to them.)

There’s been quite a lot of talk on this site lately about past and present exciting scenes on 24. So as part of the hopefully ongoing revival of the Top 24 Lists feature, I have taken a shot at compiling the most heart stopping, adrenaline pumping moments in the show’s history. Put away your clippers and have a defibrillator at the ready, because it’s time to reexamine…

The Top 24 Nail-Biting Scenes of 24! (As of Season 7, Episode 8)

24. Jack and Ramone play a totally gratuitous game of Russian Roulette. (Season 3, Episode 5)
So you’re a prisoner in the middle of a jailbreak. Your escape attempt fails, and you wind up in a room with a mix of fellow prisoners, guards, screaming government agents, and eyebrow-less drug lords. SWAT teams have got your hiding place surrounded. There’s a massive viral threat bigger than anything you could imagine happening in your city, and the two men key to stopping it are here in the room with you. Well shucks, who’s up for some Russian Roulette?

The circumstances are a bit silly, but how better to generate nail biting tension than by forcing these characters, the two characters who absolutely cannot die right now, to put a gun to their own head? Luckily, the genius who arranges the whole thing forgets that it’s a really bad idea to give your enemy a loaded pistol under any circumstances. My only regret is that his show of bravado at the top of the scene didn’t backfire. “See, now it’s only one in fi-” *BANG* X_X

The Top 24 Bad Ass Jack Bauer Moments of ‘24′

As part of this week’s Carnival of Bauer, hosted by our perennially hilarious affiliate site The Jack Sack, I present to you AlmeidaIsGod[dot]com’s Top 24 Bad Ass Jack Bauer Moments of 24.

24. Jack shoots George Mason with a tranquilizer gun, knocks him out so he can break protocol, then blackmails him with the information he obtained while doing so (Season 1: Episode 1)
Ahhh, Jack’s first moment of the first episode of the first season where we first glimpse just how badass Bauer can be.

23. Jack, in hot pursuit of Arthur Rabens, the final virus courier in Los Angeles, chases him into an elementary school and engages in a hand-to-hand battle to the finish with Rabens, then chops off Chase’s hand to secure the virus and contain its release (Season 3: Episode 24)
The Rabens battle is priceless (as I mentioned in the Top 24 One Episode Characters of 24, you gotta love a character who can elude authorities, take an agent hostage and then kung-fu fight with Jack all without uttering a single syllable of dialogue), with Jack at his most ass-kicking, which is quite the feat considering he was about to stick a needle filled with junk into his arm a mere 24 hours earlier.  Then of course the brutal amputation, one of 24’s grittiest and most gruesome scenes to date, despite the lack of depicting the actual friggin’ huge axe lopping off Chase’s already gunshot-wounded hand.  Finally, Bauer’s ingenuity kicks in and he throws the virus into a refrigerator in the school’s staff lounge and watches it detonate in a harmless “poof” of white powder.  The people of America are safe once again, thanks to Jack Bauer, its faithful servant and badass action hero.

Top 24 of 24

At last, AIG has started posting content for a new feature we call “top 24 of 24″. What this is, is basically our opinion on the top 24 of anything in 24, for example, top 24 episodes, top 24 moments, etc. Some of the more complex and thought-provoking lists are going to take some time to compile, but we have started off the venture with the Top 24 Imbeciles of 24, an in-depth look at the 24 dumbest characters of all time.
