Entertainment news site HitFix announced today that Carlos Bernard is slated to appear in Scoundrels, a new pilot scheduled to air on ABC this summer.

Based on New Zealand’s “Outrageous Fortune,” “Scoundrels” stars Virgina Madsen as a matriarch of a family of criminals facing life-gone-straight after her husband (Neal McDonough) is set away to prison.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rambin (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) and Marano (“Gilmore Girls”) will play the family’s two daughters. Bernard (“24″) will play a detective who keeps an eye on the family.

Unlike the other shows in this article, “Scoundrels” has already been picked up for a summer run on ABC. (more …)

Carlos Bernard’s role as Gabriel on Burn Notice begins this week, airing Thursday Feb 25 on USA Network at 10/9c in the episode “Good Intentions”.  In a recent interview with CinemaSpy.com, Burn Notice producer Matt Nix described the role and the performance:

[...] a bad guy who is really sort of only removed from the characters on the show [...] under other circumstances he could have been one of the team, but he is willing to do certain things that they’re not willing to do and that’s a divide that they just can’t cross. But he’s a guy who’s really committed to what he’s doing, really cares about what he’s doing. It’s a pretty devastating performance.  He’s pretty awesome.

Carlos Bernard in “Full Nelson”

Posted by Kasia on January 10, 2010 at 11:14am » 4 Comments

I’m not sure why this seems to be completely under the radar, but Carlos Bernard has filmed footage for a new comedy series called Full Nelson, which from what I can gather seemed to be the brainchild of Giant Leap Industries and director Adam Paul.  This looks to be a webisode series, but there isn’t any mention of it on Carlos’ IMDB page.  The website for the series describes it as follows:

Jake Nelson is running his Fresno wrestling promotion into the ground, he’s running out of money and his star wrestler just dropped dead in the ring.  But when scrawny Dylan Cole shows up to avenge his father’s death, the Nelson Alliance of Wrestling finds its unlikely Great White Hope. And Fresno may never be the same.

After watching it, I have to say that Carlos is pretty funny.  He appears in the “Sizzle Reel” at the 0:25 mark and again at the 0:50 mark (wearing a pretty bad wig). (more …)

If you followed coverage last night of Carlos Bernard playing in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure amFar Celebrity Charity Hold’em Event to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS research, then you no doubt enjoyed an entertaining evening!  If you missed out, there are plenty of screencaps and real time updates available through the AlmeidaIsGod.com Twitter Feed, where I was covering the event live as it aired via webcast on PokerStars.tv.  Although Carlos Bernard wasn’t able to win the tournament, he performed very well by making it through to the final table and maintaining his good-humoured and comical persona the whole way through.

Also, in case you missed it last night, there was an exciting moment when the voice-over announcers for the webcast, who were inviting viewers to send in their comments via e-mail during the broadcast, read the e-mail I sent in wishing Carlos Bernard luck in the tournament from his fans at AlmeidaIsGod.com on the air.  I was high on adrenaline for the rest of the night.

Here is a video montage of the various celebrities and personalities who played in the tournament commenting on the cause and the event.  Look for Carlos at the 3:16 mark. (more …)

MenOfTV.com Features Carlos Bernard

Posted by Kasia on December 17, 2009 at 12:32pm » 3 Comments

MenofTV.com, which appears to be a blog devoted solely to  TV actors with their shirts off, has featured Carlos Bernard as their shirtless tasty for today, using a screencap from the shirtless scene in 7×20.  As a side note, I’m not sure if this site is just new and hasn’t had a chance to get there yet, or whether they’ve been willfully neglectful, but where is the Bamber?  BSG’s Lee Adama in a towel has to be the most memorable shirtless screen tasty experience I’ve ever enjoyed.

Gareth over at TV or Not TV has posted a hilarious “Year In Review” piece, dishing out a flurry of smart and funny commentary on the greatest performances, biggest disappointments and other goodies on the boob tube in 2009.  24’s seventh season is featured prominently!  Highlights:

TV or Not TV Nominee for Man of the Year – Carlos Bernard:

I couldn’t forget the Almeida could I!?

‘24’s seventh season seems like a lifetime ago but it was only back at the start of the year that we got to witness the resurrection of possibly the most beloved character on the show.

Brought back from the dead, Carlos Bernard’s Tony Almeida went on one hell of a journey through ‘24’s seventh day, culminating in his master plan to avenge the murder of his wife and unborn child being thwarted and him being carted away in bracelets.

Almeida’s journey was by far and away the best thing about season 7 and encompassed some great moments as well as some truly shocking moments. This was the first chance the producers gave Bernard to really sink his teeth in to Tony and he did not disappoint, which makes his reported absence from season 8 all the more mind-boggling. More Thoughts on No Tony In Day 8

Posted by Kasia on November 22, 2009 at 12:37pm » 14 Comments

Now that we’ve all had a chance to process this terribly disappointing news, I’m trying to figure out where my head is at.

I have to say, I’m still pretty floored that the show elected to go this route, because in my mind all signs, and common sense, pointed to the opposite.  I had already decided before Season 7 ended that if the writers saw fit to leave Tony breathing when the finale beeped its last boop, then we definitely hadn’t seen the last of the character and it was almost certain he would return for Season 8.  At the time, Sutherland, Gordon and FOX had pretty well announced that Season 8 would be the last season of 24 to air on network.  And so Tony’s return seemed even more likely given that he has been an elite, epic character on the show and if the show was going to end, deserved more definitive closure and resolution to his relationship with Jack than we received at the end of Season 7. Say it ain’t so!

This was just posted in the “News” section of CarlosBernard.com, Carlos Bernard’s official website.

Carlos Answers the Question that Everyone’s Been Asking

I’m asked this question on a daily basis, so I might as well answer it. I’ll never say never when it comes to 24.  It’s been such a special part of my life and an honor working with all of the incredibly talented people that have helped make the show the success that it’s been.  That being said, I have not been contacted by the studio or producers of 24 about season 8.  They’re already well into filming next season and I’m about to start work on a film in South Carolina.  So, at this point, I highly doubt that I’d be able to be involved in the next season of 24 even if I wanted to be.

This is a fucking DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I’m pretty pissed, considering how much work I have put into the new site concept I’ve just launched.  Seriously, I don’t really understand this at all.  Surely this will prove to be a huge mistake, particularly if this is the last season of the show.  I need to go and smoke and cry now.
