About Dataphile
Though only introduced in the third season, Adam quickly became a dark
horse fan favourite for the audience of 24 with his sarcastic wit and his true
dedication to CTU. He is voraciously protective of his position and his role
at CTU, often telling people "not to touch his data." IT is for this reason,
as well as the fact that Adam's focus is on data files, that we have called this
fanlisting "Dataphile."
This site is part of the Almeida Is God Fan Network. It is designed and maintained
by Kasia Gawlak, webmistress and co-creator of AlmeidaIsGod.com.
A Brief History of Adam
When we first meet Adam, he actually seems like a bit of an asshole. He starts
off by demanding that Chloe O'Brien from Field Ops stay away from his data, and
accuses Kim Bauer of only having her job at CTU because her dad got it for her.
He tries to impede Kim's contribution to investigations by with-holding information
from her. Chloe even suggests that he "hates women." However, when
CTU is faced
with
stopping
the
most
lethal
terrorist threat they have ever encountered, Adam must put aside his personal
feelings
and work side by side with his fellow agents to stop a deadly virus from getting
loose in Los Angeles.
Faced with such high stakes, Adam quickly loses the petty inter-office politics
and becomes one of CTU's most vital links in stopping the virus. He starts off
by tracking Kyle Singer, working closely with Kim Bauer to find the teenager
CTU
suspects
of
carrying
the
virus.
Adam and Kim track Kyle to an industrial park where Kyle and his girlfriend are
taken into custody. Kyle is tested for exposure to the virus.
During this time, Kim and Adam have established quite a smooth working relationship.
When Kim disappears into a locked Tech room, Adam finds her bound and gagged
by Gael Ortega, CTU's senior Analyst. Adam rescues Kim and alerts security that
Gael is a breach. Gael is apprehended and interrogated, and this is when things
start to get crazy.
When Kyle Singer
turns
out
to
be
a
red
herring,
not
infected
with
the
virus
nor
transporting
it, it
is
soon
revealed that the entire virus threat to Los Angeles orchestrated by three CTU
agents working in secret to ferret out the very same virus by exploiting Jack
Bauer's past undercover work with a drug cartel. Adam's focus quickly changes
to assisting the operation to secure the REAL virus by tracking Jack's progress
in Mexico.
Things in Mexico don't go exactly as anticipated, however, and CTU realizes the
virus sale there is a hoax. When their prime suspect escapes from custody, they
realize the virus is still loose and it's in Los Angeles. During this time, Jack
Bauer has apprehended his old nemesis, Nina Myers, who was part of the virus
deal in Mexico. She tells Jack she has a way to contact one of the men involved
with the virus by an Internet socket. When Jack calls the number she gives him,
he inadvertently triggers a worm within CTU's computer system that could bring
down the entire agency's network. Nina is sure that no one can stop her worm,
but Adam and Chloe O'Brien, another system tech, are able, after much stress,
to shut it down.
Shortly thereafter, CTU tracks the virus to the Chandler Plaza Hotel. Unfortunately,
they are unable to disarm the dissemination device before the virus is released.
Everyone in the hotel is exposed and the hotel is quarantined. CTU learns that
a man who was exposed exited the hotel before it was locked down. It is Adam's
job to find and identify him. Adam is also tasked with tracking down the man
responsible for the virus, who by now has been identified as Stephen Saunders.
Adam identifies the man carrying the virus as Bill Cole, a local businessman.
He monitors Chase's progress in tracking him down.
Unfortunately, before CTU can find Bill Cole, he has already exposed dozens of
people to the virus, who have in turn exposed hundreds more. CTU is looking at
an epidemic that will be very difficult to contain. Adam soon learns that his
sister Sarah has been quarantined and has tested positive for infection. Despite
his emotions over his sister, he convinces Tony and Chloe that he remains fit
for duty. However, when he makes a mistake and loses data in the middle of the
operation to take down Saunders, Chloe tells Tony she thinks Adam should be relieved.
Tony, however, allows Adam to stay on provided he doesn't make any more mistakes.
Adam successfully helps Jack, Tony and Chase find and stop the virus from being
released in Los Angeles, however he has ostensibly left CTU at the end of Season
3, as he is no longer working there in Season 4. We hope to see Adam come back
in the future, as he was a great character who developed into a real member of
the CTU family.
