Spoiler Geeks caught up with Carlos Bernard at The Paley Center’s annual celebrity golf classic on Tuesday, June 9. When questioned about Tony’s potential presence in 24’s eighth season, Carlos replied:
I can’t comment on that; that would be giving way too much away.
The one question on my mind is, if he’s NOT in Season 8, then there wouldn’t be anything TO give away … right? RIGHT???!!!???

Sounds promising to me. Whenever someone says they “can’t” comment on a return, it sounds contractual to me, like they’re either in negotiations or already set. One option is he’d been killed or otherwise removed from action in the time between 7 and 8, but I doubt it very much.
oh i don’t think they will kill him BETWEEN seasons now that they’ve worked so hard to bring him back in the first place and managed to keep him alive. a couple of sources list him as returning, and I know you’ve seen them too, frankly, I’m expecting him to return, because the writers will have understood by now that 24 just doesn’t work as well without the chemistry between carlos and kiefer. and after carlos’s perfect performance in s7, there’s no doubt in my mind that they’d lose him in s8. the only reason for that to happen would be if he happened to be too busy doing other things. but from what he’s always been saying, he loves the show and loves coming back to it (if there’s something NEW for him to do), so I’m hopeful we’ll see him come 2010. what I want to know though is whether the projects he’s listed on his site (101 ways to die and Mission Road) are happening, and if so, when.
Sounds like an indirect confirmation if there’s ever been one. As I’ve said though, I hope his role is big and vital to the season, not one of these 4-6 episode arcs that feel a little like tangents that we’ve had before.
They will do justice to Almeida. He is God, remember? He resurrected the show after Season 6 and brought it back to critical and fan acclaim. Emmy noms are coming July 15 and Carlos Bernard’s name better be on that list, is all I have to say.
I hope so, and I’d like to see Annie Wersching and Cherry Jones get some recognition too, but it’d really surprise me if that happened. Sutherland will get his nod, and I think Jon Voight is a virtual lock for a Best Guest Actor nomination. But I have a feeling that’s as far as it’ll go actor-wise.
I’d be shocked if Carlos were nominated. Annie and Cherry have both showed up in speculation (Cherry moreso), and I’d be thrilled to see either one of them on there, but I’m with johanley – it seems unlikely. I don’t put too much stock in the Emmys, though, as they continually ignore some of the best shows on TV in favor of Grey’s Anatomy and other undeserving nominees.
HOWEVER, if Carlos EVER deserved a nomination for his work on 24, it’s THIS year. So… even though I don’t really think they’ll give him the nod he deserves, at least it’s not too “out there” to hope – at least a little.
This season of 24 would have never been as successful nor as powerful had Carlos not helped carried the season all the way through. For that reason alone, he deserves a nomination for bringing 24 back to its heart and soul, back to its best form!!
CARLOS BERNARD FOR SUPPORTING ACTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kiefer needs to go campaign for his best buddy!!! No one is more deserving of this recognition than Carlos! He acted his butt off this year and not to mention he brought 24 back in fighting form after that dismal 6th season!
totally
. kiefer should definitely do that.
tony is definitely cominig back to help jack
Carlos ineded is nominated for Emmy Award for Best Supporting Act, but there are so many other actors nominated as well that I have to wonder if he has any chances.
He’s not nominated, he submitted his name for consideration. That’s the only list that’s been released so far.
i think thet bringing tony back in season 8 will be the best thing for the show so tony can fix his actions in season 7 by coming back in season 8 to bea good tony but difarent
