While this is in no way an official confirmation, a recent entry in NY Post Blogs about new Season 8 cast lists Carlos Bernard as one of the original 24 cast members returning to the series for “another day with Bauer.”
While most of “24’s” characters are one-outfit players, FBI Agent Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) will join the ranks of “24″ originals Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub), Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) and Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) for another day with Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland).

Well, hopefully! Now that he’s survived Season 7, I’m sure that 99.99 percent of the viewers have been expecting his return in S8. Damn, I can’t wait! Hopefully it’ll be as thrilling and rewarding as S7 was.
or even more so, if that’s possible.

They casted a new Chief of Staff for season 8 and President Taylor will also be in New York that day like Jack. Nothing has been announced regarding Olivia and Henry.
Yeah, I read the article mentioning the Chief of Staff. Thanks for the Olivia and Henry info. Frankly, I am assuming that the Taylors will be divorced and Olivia will be either in prison or her mother will have pulled strings to keep her out of prison, but they will have alienated themselves from each other completely. so I’m not actually expecting to see them, at least not in the beginning. A storyline like Sherry’s in S2 might be conceivable though (although I hope they won’t, cause really, we’ve seen the angry ex-partner storyline often enough).
What I find interesting is that there are reports that Bob Gunton will be back as Ethan Kanin but not as the chief of staff. The guy who does costume fittings for the show put on his twitter page that he did measurements for Gunton for this season, and numerous articles have listed Gunton as a starring cast member for season 8.
If I had to guess, I would say that S8 will reveal Allison and Henry are now divorced or separated, and Allison is involved with Ethan. I always got a sense there was more to their relationship than meets the eye, like perhaps they had some kind of past relationship history, or at least that Ethan’s feelings for Allison went beyond professional loyalty. A romantic relationship between them would explain why he is no loner CoS, as it would be a conflict of interest.
yeah I agree. i think i said somewhere too that I’m thinking alison will no longer be mrs taylor in s8. cause it was suggested henry would not forgive her for olivia. as for alison and ethan, yeah there ha been more than just a professional relationship, after all, there was also that photograph of the two of them smiling on alison’s desk (or was it ethan’s desk?). I assumed they were longtime friends and that she had ethan to thank for her position as much as herself. I’m not sure how I’d take a romantic relationship between them, but I guess if it’s done well, I could. at least it’s never been done before on 24. a pres getting divorced and then getting involved with her CoS. not that I remember anyway.
